Fineart.ac.uk, in collaboration with the CNAA Art Collection Trust and the University of East London, organised a Fine Art Forum on 10th November 2004. The aim of the Forum was to bring some art practitioners/teachers together into a studio space in order to debate some of the key issues arising from the teaching of Fine Art practice in the contemporary educational climate.
The discussions were recorded digitally and a transcript of the entire forum can be downloaded by clicking here . Alternatively click here to view a selection of video, audio and quotes.
A number of artists discussed their own experience and views of teaching and studying Fine Art practice. The Forum was chaired by William Furlong, and participating Artists included Richard Wilson, Gavin Turk, Mark Hampson, Susan Stockwell, Tamiko O'Brien and Shezad Dawood.
"...there is too little debate and discussion about what goes on in the art school.." William Furlong

The Forum took place in the new AVA building which houses the School of Architecture and the Visual Arts at the University of East London's Royal Docks campus on Wednesday 10th of November 2004.
The spectacular building provides both a literal and a metaphorical platform for the Forum.
At the end of the afternoon a reception and drinks accompanied an opportunity to see The Kiss, an installation by John Smith and Ian Bourn.
