'Opus Alchemicum' by Mark Ainsworth

"My Relationship with colour and all its magical properties is at the centre of my creative output.

Through the use of colour / texture and the glimpse of a representational form, I wish to convey the feeling that an alchemical change may take place at any moment.

I use colour that corresponds to the feelings that I have whilst in the act of painting. The images originate from a distillation of inner processes, uniting the imagination with certain revival memories experienced whilst travelling and studying the art of various cultures.

In the end I do not wish to mimic the world of appearances, but invent my own through a creative process and imaginative play." Mark Ainsworth
